1. Garbage Dreams, the story of three teenage boys born into the trash trade and growing up in the world's largest garbage village, on the outskirts of Cairo, will screen at 4 p.m. during the Olympia Film Festival.

2. Thirty-two of Washington’s clay artists show at a juried exhibition at The Art Stop inside Le Roy Jewelers, with work ranging from bowls to abstract to the surreal from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

3. The Love Tacoma organization will talk about Tacoma and quite frankly love Tacoma over discounted food and drinks from 5:30-7:30 p.m. followed by saxophonist Kareem Kandi hosts an open jazz jam at 9 p.m. inside SAX Restaurant and Lounge on Sixth Avenue.

4. Violinists Maria Sampen and Timothy Christie, cellist Virginia Dziekonski and violist Tom Dziekonski will perform and discuss Dmitri Shostakovich's deeply personal String Quartet No. 8, Opus 110 at 7 p.m. inside the Slavonian Hall in Old Town Tacoma. The concert is free.

5. DJ Omar spins at 10 p.m. inside Jazzbones.

One of the most fun pub parties in Tacoma makes its annual appearance tonight at the Harmon Brewery and Restaurant when the all-ages Pray For Snow bash kicks off at 5 p.m. with the human jukebox Steve Stefanowicz back again plus ski resort and equipment prizes and giveaways. Proceeds will benefit Mary Bridge Child Abuse Intervention program.

2. The Pierce County Arts Commission doles out Margaret K Williams awards to Candi Hall, Barbara Lee Smith, David Craig, Lyn Di Nino, and Linda Danforth for being so bitchin’ cool in the county arts scene at 6:30 p.m. inside the Tacoma Art Museum.

3. The Sound We Make and Whiteout — considered the greatest plays ever written by Nick Stokes — will be staged at 7:30 p.m. inside Tacoma's Old City Hall for a pay-if-you-can preview performance.

1. Ski and snowboard season is nearly upon us. Time to start breaking out the snow pants and those long underwear with the hole in the crotch that you’ve worn for the last eight seasons. But before any of that, it’s time to head to the Top of Tacoma Bar and Cafe tonight to check out the second annual “Gnar Ball” featuring shred films, music by Mike from Neutralboy, plenty of booze specials and even some giveaway prizes beginning at 7 p.m.

2. Following the eternal question asked by the great Louis Jordan’s song “Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby,” Blake Haygood’s drawings of disintegrating/reforming mechanical/organic objects into the space opens today from 6-9 p.m. at The Telephone Room Gallery.

3. City Club of Tacoma, 770 KTTH, and the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts host nationally syndicated radio talk-show host, film critic and author Michael Medved to the Theatre on the Square at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available.
