"To Kill a Mockingbird" at Paradise Theatre

KRISTA CURRY: MOCKINGBIRD OPENS FRIDAY IN GIG HARBOR >>>

Atticus and Scout To Kill a Mockingbird, one of the best-loved books ... ever, has also inspired theater versions. Paradise Theatre will stage Christopher Sergel's version beginning Jan. 16 and running through Feb. 1. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Paradise Theatre has added a raised mezzanine seating area to their space starting this show, which should be a dramatic improvement.

From the press release:

Set in the small Southern town of Maycomb, Alabama, during the Depression, To Kill a Mockingbird follows three years in the life of 8 year old Scout Finch, her brother, Jem, and their father Atticus-three years punctuated by the arrest and eventual trial of a young black man accused of raping a white woman. Though her story explores big themes, Harper Lee chooses to tell it through the eyes of a child. The result is a tough and tender story of race, class, justice and the pain of growing up.

Go see this show. The talented cast and choice of play itself promises that it's going to be damn good.

[Paradise Theatre, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 3 p.m., tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for military/seniors, $8 for students 25 and younger, 9911 Burnham Dr Gig Harbor, 253.851.7529]
