I swore I was going to lay off Sixth Avenue for a while, but this street is absolutely off the chain right now.
The latest boozing powerhouse? Farrelli's Pizza Place.
Farrelli's opened recently in the Poole's Corner building on Union and Sixth, right next to Firehouse Coffee, the ultra hip specialty roaster that supports only certified fair trade and organic coffee farms and co-ops (good for environmental, social and economic standards).
Farrelli's has been wall to wall ever since it opened, with what appears to be mostly college kids, some thirtysomethings, and Sixth Avenue neighbors. The lounge is to the left; the family side is to the right. The lounge has several plasmas, a master jukebox and pull tabs.
I'd like to start by apologizing in advance to Farrelli's. I'm going to try to not get too wasted in your establishment, but I have a good feeling that I might just slip into it, whether I like it or not. Your place is just so comfortable. I'll take cabs home, I swear.
Mandy the server was the first person I talked to there. She was genuinely friendly, with the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen, and I have to humbly bow down - her freckles are cuter than I am.
Actually, the whole staff is beautiful, and several of them said hello and asked how I was doing, which was nice, especially since that's one of the only places in Tacoma where I'm an absolute nobody.
I sat at the bar below the array of hard alcohol selections and noted the vodka and tequila options - so delightfully dangerous. The multitude of beers on tap was over to my right.
Ben was my bartender. He's worked for Farrelli's for a few years, previously at the Dupont location (there are others in Lacey and Sumner). He was amped to hear about the opening of the T-Town Farrelli's since he's a Stadium District resident. Welcome home, Ben.
The guy sitting next to me at the bar was drinking a Miller Lite bottle. He told me that when he first went in there Farrelli's had Miller Lite only on tap, but the place started carrying bottles the next day - just for him. That's service.
The wood-fired pizza is perfect. The menu also features a crispy, fresh salad bar (made right before your eyes), pasta, and damn fine desserts. I had the amazing Snickers blitz pie.  My dentist wouldn't be happy with that decision, but I could care less.
It's obvious that the proprietors of Farrelli's really respect their employees because the entire staff was all smiles, not forced ones either. Apparently, the owners believe in treating their employees like family, and each Farrelli representative seems to love rockin' the hot spot that they've created.
Dear Farrelli's, will you adopt me?
